EPISODE 3: Who Actually Controls Your Voter Registration? — The SAVE Act, Part 3 of 3

Kansas already tried requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote. More than 30,000 citizens paid the price.

In the last part of our SAVE Act series, we ask the big question: if noncitizen voting isn’t a real problem, why push so hard? We look at what happened in Kansas and Arizona and how a flawed federal tool could flag real citizens for removal. We also cover the executive order that tried to do what Congress wouldn’t, and the Justice Department’s losing streak suing states for their voter rolls. And a handy acronym for seeing the whole picture: POSIWID.

Clarification: The executive order called for states to give the Postal Service a list of eligible voters, but didn't require it. The Postal Service rule that followed asks for each state's list of mail voters, and only ballots to voters on that list would be delivered. Courts have blocked the rule for the 2026 midterms.
